New Lupus Drug May Come Out Next Year

I just read a WSJ article that indicates that a new lupus drug may hit the market next year. The cost seems astronomical ($20K/year), but hopefully if the drug works a generic version will soon follow.

Has anyone heard anything about this?

There is a new lupus drug set to hit the market in January. The name starts with a B, but due to "lupus fog" I can not remember the name at the moment. Also, there is another new drug in the third phase of a trial at this moment. I hope this info helps, I know living with Lupus sucks.

The drug youare thinking of is Benlysta is given by infusion just once a month..The FDA approved maybe by late 2010.

I haven't heard anything about a specific medicine, however my rheumatologist just informed me on my last visit that it is a drug coming out in a experimental state but has not yet been FDA approved. She told me that the drug was successfully tested in small controlled groups and now it will start in bigger groups to record the results in order to get FDA approval. I'm not sure if this is what u r referring to but I hope my reply is of some assistance to u.
