Depression

I have a minor form of depression which I take Paxil for.  I have taken it since 2001.  Taking it helps me keep my emotions under control.  I can keep them organized and managed so much better.  My husband passed away in February of 2009.  When this happened I lost my insurance and now it costs me $70 a month for my paxil when it used to just cost me $25.  This past week I have gone without trying to save some money.  I have noticed a huge change.  I am easily frustrated and lose control of my emotions so much quicker than usual.  I never really realized how much it helps me stay in control of my life until this week.  After I post this I'm going to go and pick up a prescription because I'm tired of not being in control.  I hate feeling down at the drop of a hate or feeling euphoric at the snap of my fingers.

Hi Bamaeeyore,

I am very, very sorry to hear of your husband's passing.

I take the generic zoloft for depression since 2006.  It has worked well for me now.  I know what you mean about the difference in costs.  I know I'm not supposed to suddenly stop taking it.  Maybe it's the same w/Paxil and that's why you felt out of control.  If you are having too many ups and downs maybe you can talk to your doctor and try another medicine.

I hope you feel better soon!

Chris
