Tips and Tricks - How to Find and be Found

There are several ways to find other members with similar health information.

Health Profile matches

Once you have entered information into your health profile, you can use the links under the "My Matches" section on your home page.

The "New Connections" match you to other members who have similar characteristics in their health profile. These will be sorted by the match strength with an indicator of Strong, Medium, and Weak matches.

The "Specialists" section will match you to physicians, facilities, etc. who specilize in an area that matches your health profile.

The "Medications" section will show what other members think of the medications you have listed in your profile. You can also see what other medications people are taking who have conditions similar to yours.

The "Devices" section will show what other members think of the devices you have listed in your profile. You can also see what other devices people are using who have conditions similar to yours.

The "clinical trials" section will show any clinical trials that are a match to anything listed in your health profile. This is a way to find new treatments and new medications that are still in the trial stage.

The "Research" section contains links to journals, research papers, books, etc. that are a match to your health profile.

Our site is focused on making the best matches for our members. In order to gain the most benefit from this, it is very important to completely fill our your health profile. That will help us to provide you with the best matches. It will also help others to find you. Our site is not only designed to allow you to find people and information, but it allows others to actively search for you.

Keyword Search

On your Home page (and on some other pages as well) you will see a search box on the upper right. Enter a word or phrase into the box and hit enter or click on the "search" button. This will search through the Bios and Health Profile items of our members looking for that word or phrase. There is no "Match Strength" for this search. The word or phrase was either found or it wasn't.

This will also search for member names. For instance, if there was a member named "VeganMegan", you could enter "Megan" and find that member.

This search works best to find members who have filled in their health profile and entered a bio. You may use this search without filling these out for yourself, but if you want to be found, you should enter a bio and fill out your health profile. Of course, this is always recommended.
