This is an overview of the different areas of the site - what they are for and how they work together.
My Profile and My Bio
The profile is where you enter conditions, symptoms, medications, etc. This information is used to help people find one another. The "bio" is where you enter your background information - things that don't change like where you are from, a little about yourself, perhaps why you are here and what you hope to gain from participating on the site. The bio and the health profile are shown on your public profile so that other members can see at a glance whether you might be a fountain of information for them.
Health Diaries
This is where you can talk about what is going on with you on a regular basis. You can make daily, weekly, or random entries. It is a journal/diary/weblog. A typical entry might be:
"I had my first physical therapy session today. I thought the worst was over after the surgery, but now I think the hard part has just begun."
Another member might be searching for "physical therapy" and your health diary entry would show up in the search results.
I use mine as a place to put information about the site, but feel free to use your own as you see fit.
Conversations
This is where you can have conversations with your friends. You will have to add members as friends before you can have conversations. You can find potential friends through the matching section and through health diary entries. To accept friend requests and manage your friend invitiations, you can click on the "Friends" tab or click in the "My Friends" section.
Friends' Activity
This shows what your friends have been up to. If they are on a new medication, it will show up here. When they enter daily updates to their status, that will also show up here.
Healthy News
This is where members can keep each other up to date on the latest healthcare news. If you find a good article on the web, put it here so that others can easily find it. Other members can put their stamp of approval on it by clicking the "It's Healthy" link or they can comment on the article.
That's it in a nutshell. The more that members use these different areas, the more helpful the site will be for everyone. So don't be shy. Get out there and start humanizing healthcare today.
