My Bio
My name is Dolores J. I''m nineteen, an infantile cancer survivor, a person living with an autism disorder, and a former wearer of a Boston back-brace for scoliosis. I''m very open about all this, so if you''re going through it or are just curious, ask away. I''m into learning about various developmental disabilities, chromosomal anomalies, UFOs, lysosomal storage diseases, and basic child development. I also like the show Roseanne, Talking Heads, and Japanese food.

Public Health Profile
I have Atypical autism Currently Feeling
I am currently feeling: not well at all  very good
I am considerably high-functioning, better belonging to the Asperger's label, but am clinically diagnosed with the disorder. I have come a long way, yet struggle to have what is considered to be a normal life. I prefer to say that I function but not thrive.

I have Neuroblastoma Currently Feeling
I am currently feeling: not well at all  very good
I had this during infancy, and although my mind cannot remember much, my body still can. This illness has contributed the most to my nine total surgeries.
Diagnosed 20 years ago
I have Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis Currently Feeling
I am currently feeling: not well at all  very good
Had a Boston brace for three years. Was a real pain in the ass, but I dealt with it. Many recommended the book Deenie by Judy Blume. I love Judy, but I could not relate at all. Made middle school even more isolating.

I have the symptom of Social problems Currently Feeling
I am currently feeling: not well at all  very good
The monster of my disability is hidden in my darkest hours - or in the comforts of my home. I struggle socially, sometimes I know it and sometimes I don't. I am quite clumsy, with poor coordination and visual-spatial skills, which makes learning to drive a challenge. I strongly dislike (or rather, fail to tolerate) change in my environment, from having something significantly disturbed in my own room (shrieking) to my mother wishing to paint the kitchen (crying.)

I am interested in: Caring for Autistic Adults
Caring for Autistic Adults I am currently looking for work with adults with autism and other significant disabilities. I am especially eagar to work with other females on the spectrum.
I am interested in: Caring for Autistic Children
Caring for Autistic Children I almost naturally feel responsible for protecting others affected by autism, especially the little ones. I fear they will face the misunderstandings that I endured.
I am interested in: Down Syndrome
Down Syndrome I love children with Down Syndrome - at least the ones I've met. It would be my pleasure to meet other friends, families, and individuals with DS. I am interested in getting to know older people, not just children (despite how cute they are.) I am sincerely blessed by my sister - and I'm an atheist!
